BACKGROUND

The Manual Handling Regulations place a duty on every employer to reduce the Manual Handling Operations. This course is designed to meets those standards. This half day course instructs employees in the theory and practice of safe manual handling.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

All employers should consider Manual Handling training as part of each employee’s awareness training, especially if there job description includes lifting heavy loads during their working day.

COURSE CONTENTS:

  • Manual Handling Law
  • Principals of levers and laws of motion
  • Care of the Spine
  • How the body is harmed through incorrect handling techniques
  • Dangers of careless and unskilled methods
  • Lifting to and from the ground
  • Lifting to and from a height
  • Pushing and pulling
  • Various specified lifting tasks
  • Practical skills test

OBJECTIVES:

  • Lift and handle loads safely
  • Recognise the limitations of the spine
  • Recognise when a load is too heavy or awkward.
